  2. Connect your account

The first click on the extension icon opens a PodRead tab that connects your account. The tab waits for the extension to answer, then reports one of two results.

    Extension Not Connected

The PodRead extension did not answer. Install it, then open this page again.

Extension Not Connected means the extension never answered. Install it, or turn it on in chrome://extensions. Reload the page to try again.

  3. Click the icon on any article

Open the article you want to listen to and click the PodRead icon in your toolbar. A green checkmark on the icon means the article was sent.

  4. Episode appears in your feed

Once you click the extension icon, audio is ready in your feed in a few minutes. Whether it shows up in your podcast app right away or ten minutes later depends on how often your app checks for new episodes — in many apps you can pull-to-refresh if you want it sooner.

Troubleshooting

"This page does not appear to be an article"

The extension works best on article pages with substantial text content. It may not work on:

  • Home pages or index pages
  • Pages with mostly images or video
  • Pages behind paywalls or login walls
  • PDFs or non-HTML content
Extension shows error state

Try refreshing the page and clicking the icon again. If the problem persists, the page content may not be extractable.

Need to reconnect?

If you're logged out or need to reconnect, just click the extension icon — you'll be redirected to the connect page automatically.
